TROPIC receives NSF funding to investigate surface-subsurface conditions in the EEP

We are proud to announce that TROPIC PI Gerald Rustic has received another round of NSF funding! This award , OCE 2317228, is for Core Stratigraphy and Paleotemperature Estimates to Characterize Last Interglacial Tropical Pacific Climate Variability - ENSO During MIS 5e. We will be getting core samples from an EEP sediment core that spans from the Last Glacial Maximum (some 25,000 years ago) to the last interglacial (MIS 5e) some 125,000 years ago. We hope to find sediments from MIS 5e with sufficient resolution and forams for future studies on climate variability during that rather exciting time.
